Airplane Trips Packing Checklist


Traveling on an airplane can be sometimes a little overwhelming! We never know what to check out and what to carry on… Just to be safe, it is a good advice to have a carry on a bag with all items you may need while inside the plane.

To make your life easier, we prepared a list below with all items you should carry on or check-in.

For the Baby

Check-in Items (to be within your luggage)

[ ] Car seat (FAA approved)
[ ] Lightweight collapsible “umbrella” type stroller
[ ] Travel Crib or Playpen
[ ] Bottle warmer
[ ] Baby Monitor
[ ] A few small bath toys
[ ] Inflatable baby bathtub
[ ] Sling or child carrier for newborns
[ ] Nightlight
[ ] Breast pump (if still breastfeeding)
[ ] First-aid kit (see First Aid Kit Packing Checklist)

Carry-on Items (to be with you inside the plane)

[ ] Diaper bag
[ ] Diapers (pack more than you think you will need)
[ ] Diaper rash ointment
[ ] Changing pads
[ ] Baby Wipes
[ ] Bibs
[ ] Baby food and spoons
[ ] Bottle and nipples
[ ] Formula
[ ] Pacifiers
[ ] Light jacket
[ ] Extra clothes
[ ] Blankets
[ ] Books to read to your Baby
[ ] Sunblock
[ ] Plastic grocery or zip-lock bags
[ ] 2 vinyl diaper wraps with Velcro closures

Packing Internationally (Documents and Paperwork precautions)

[ ] A copy of your child’s most recent medical records
[ ] Your pediatrician’s and pharmacist’s phone numbers, in case of an emergency
[ ] A copy of your child’s birth certificate
[ ] Bring a passport or proof of citizenship, depending on your destination
[ ] Check with your doctor to find out whether any special inoculations are required
[ ] Consider taking an evening flight so that your child can sleep through the trip
[ ] Consider bringing a few bottles of water if tap water is a concern
[ ] Bring adapters, to plug in items such as blow-dryers

General Apparel

[ ] Reservation confirmations, tickets and itineraries
[ ] Maps and directions
[ ] Wallet and purse
[ ] Cash, credit cards or traveler’s checks
[ ] ID or drivers license
[ ] Medical insurance cards (consider making international insurance, depending on destination)
[ ] Keys (car and house)
[ ] Prescriptions and medications (on its original bottles)
[ ] Magazines & books
[ ] Small cassette tape player & headphones with music and books on tape; this helps entertain the children for hours.
[ ] A laptop computer with a DVD player, with a few DVD movie rentals for the kids to watch.
[ ] Toys, games and cards
[ ] Snacks and drinks
