Slats are loose, missing, or cracked.    
Mattress is too loose -- more than two finger-widths between the edge of the mattress and the crib side.    
Corner posts are higher than 1/16th inch (11/2 mm).    
There are cutouts in the headboard or foot board.    
Drop-side latches could be easily released by baby.    
Screws or bolts that secure crib components are loose.    
Mattress support is not securely attached to head/foot board.
